Shortly after experiencing contemplative prayer for the first time, I found my life falling apart. The contemplative prayer practices were instrumental in the rebuilding process of both my faith and my life. I never would have healed from a very devastating experience had I not had the avenues to pour out my heart to God AND actually listen for God to speak into my life.
After working through this situation and experiencing contemplative prayer's power, I began using these practices with my students. I remember taking 6th graders on that first retreat and thinking that I was insane! But I found that after they suffered through the silence of the first day, they began to enjoy the silence and the prayer practices. By the third and final day of that retreat, they didn't want to break the silence or go home!
As we continued to incorporate T.A.G. into the fiber of our youth ministry, I began to see growth and incredible things happening in the lives of my students. Where we once struggled to have 30 seconds of silence, the students were begging for T.A.G. days and retreats. We incorporated some T.A.G. practices into the routine structure of our youth...
